The light gray sandstone consists of medium-grained quartz-feldspar sand and somewhat larger ooids. Ooids are carbonate round bodies formed in moving shallow water by precipitation around a core. The sands and ooids were cemented by carbonate cement that completely fills the pore space. Subsequently, the ooids and cement were dolomitized. This sandstone formed on the shore of a large lake.
