We would like to stay in touch with you. Regardless of how long you were a student or staff member at the Institute of Geosciences at Friedrich Schiller University Jena or how long ago this happened.

In the long run, we want to build a network that will enable you to maintain and further develop your connection with the IGW, with students and other graduated persons even after you have finished your studies.

We want to benefit not only from your experiences during your studies, but also from your professional experiences, in order to pass them on to our current students on the one hand (What qualifications and knowledge do companies expect from people with a degree in geosciences? Does your current work environment offer opportunities for internships or theses at home or abroad? ...) and on the other hand to further improve our education, which is as close to practice as possible.

But you will also benefit enormously. You will get to know the new learning methods and news from scientific fields, you will establish contacts to other companies and potential new employees and you can participate in the development of the IGW or return here at any time to take part in events, lectures, exhibitions or alumni meetings.

  • BioGeo Alumni Meeting on June 4, 2016

Eindrücke vom ersten Alumni-Treffen BioGeo im Juni 2016

    Image: IGW

On June 4, 2016, after a long planning phase, the time had finally come: the first BioGeo Alumni Day could take place.

In bright sunshine, we started with a small excursion. With a group of about 35 people, we went along the old highway route of the A4, past succession study areas of the university, over the hills left in the landscape, and then in search of orchids.

Here, and also at the later barbecue at the IGW, there were many opportunities for exchange among each other, whether it was about the possibilities of different master's degrees, jobs and internships, or simply about personal exchange among each other. As a student, you got good insights, ideas and advice for further education plans on the way.

Dear Alumnae and Alumni of the University of Jena,

we would like to stay in touch with you - for a lifetime and regardless of how long you have been a student or employee at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Your knowledge and experience are valuable to us.

To make it easy for you to always find your way to us, there is the central alumni service of FSU JenAlumni. Meanwhile, more than 11,000 alumni have registered in the JenAlumni network. Depending on discipline, age group and country of origin, the wishes and expectations are naturally different. We try to do justice to this. You should have the feeling that you are still part of your alma mater and that you can return here at any time, whether for alumni meetings, lectures, exhibitions or, for example, to take advantage of the university's sports facilities. For many alumni, the subject matter continues to play a major role. For this reason, a number of alumni initiatives have been founded in recent years that are committed to "their" alumni in very different ways.

Together with you, we would like to build a bridge between theory and practice. Stay in touch with us!

With kind regards and best wishes

    Yours

    Prof. Dr. Walter Rosenthal

President of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena

At the moment, registration with JenAlumni is only possible via alumni@uni-jena.de.
